(GSM) – Brazilian side Internacional sit top of Copa Libertadores Group 5 after beating Cerro of Uruguay 2-0 at the Beira-Rio.
Both defensive unites played a stern opening 45 minutes on Wednesday, but it was an unfortunate play that put Cerro down a goal in the 58th minute.
A cross in from the flank by Brazilian striker Walter fell at the feet of Walter Ibáñez, but his cross was mishit and flew past Damián Frascarelli in the Cerro goal.
With the visitors deflated, Inter pounced and grabbed a second goal in the 72nd minute when Alecsandro turned in yet another dangerous cross by Walter.
Inter are on eight points atop Group 5 after four games, and Cerro are a further point back in second place.
