(GSM) – Brazilian side Internacional stayed in the hunt for a Copa Libertadores Round of 16 berth after a 0-0 draw against Emelec on Wednesday.

Internacional came into the game two points behind Group 5 leaders Deportivo Quito, and a victory would have all but assured them a berth in the knockout rounds.

But Emelec, who were already eliminated from the competition, came out with a valiant defensive effort to deny Internacional, who had won four straight games.

With all groups now having played five games, Internacional rank fifth among the eight group runners-up, with the top six earning berths in the last 16.
