Having suffered defeats at the hands of Tottenham and Barcelona, respectively, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are locking horns in efforts to make amends and improve impressions at the International Champions Cup.

And while the teams continue to prepare during preseason, the clubs’ managements look to further strengthen both squads with several names that have placed both PSG and Juventus under the public scrutiny.

Paris Saint-Germain

Edinson Cavani took less than six minutes to open the scoring for the French heavyweights against Tottenham and it looked as if the Paris-based side would be strolling towards victory over the Premier League runners-up.

Christian Eriksen levelled the score four minutes later with a stunning long-range effort. It was PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp who changed the course of the game as he first made an error to hand Eric Dier a chance to put Spurs up, before getting himself sent off early in the second half after handling the ball outside his area. Alderweireld and Kane added a goal each in the closing stage of the match to earn their team a two-goal lead and ultimately an important preseason win. It was not the defeat against Tottenham PSG made headlines for last week, however. French heavyweights are making great effort to strengthen their squad and have set their sights on none other than Barcelona superstar Neymar, whose head was reportedly turned by a mega-money offer. Neymar’s father was thought to be pushing for a deal to go through as he felt Neymar would be given a chance to step out of Messi’s shadow at Parc De Princes, but Barcelona re doing everything they can to keep their star at Camp Nou.

Team News

Unai Emery will not have Neymar to show off against Juventus, but he will have his full star-studded squad to call upon once again. Dani Alves is expected to be given another chance to present himself and inflict another blow to his former employers Juventus.

Juventus

The aforementioned Barcelona star, Neymar, put on a remarkably high quality show against Juventus at the International Champions Cup last week, thus showing PSG fans a glimpse of what £196 million will not be enough to get them in the end.

The Brazilian’s future at the Camp Nou might be the subject of much uncertainty and speculation, but Neymar is showing no signs of being distracted by the rumours surrounding him. Barcelona superstar gave Juventus defence a run for their money as he singlehandedly humiliated them with a brace in a 2-1 victory. A humiliating and utterly disappointing show in defence followed Leonardo Bonucci’s departure to AC Milan, but Juventus insist it is too early to be discussing the quality of Massimiliano Allegri’s backline. The match against Barcelona was Juventus’ first match together this season and Allegri is not worried. Bianconeri will, without doubt, put in a much more composed performance against PSG as they slowly gain pace in the preseason. Giorgio Chiellini is here to add to the stability of defence, whereas Miralem Pjanic, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain are likely to keep PSG on their heels. With Allegri working hard on preparing his team, the management is wrapping up the transfer dealings as well.

Team News

Fiorentina star Federico Bernandeschi has already arrived for Juventus medical, whereas AC Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio is another quality addition to highly-disputed defence line.

Conclusion

Both sides have plenty to play for as they look to make amends to previous defeats at the International Champions Cup and we strongly advise you to buy tickets here and hop over to the Hard Rock Stadium for what is surely going to be a highly-eventful affair.
