Filippo Inzaghi may be forced to leave AC Milan in order to break the scoring record in European competition, Adriano Galliani has revealed.
The 38-year-old former Italy striker is reported to be pondering a move in January, with Milan’s Serie A rivals Novara said to be interested.
He has made just three substitute appearances in all competitions this season, and Milan chief executive officer Galliani believes that Inzaghi may have to move to another club if he is to achieve a major career milestone.
“Pippo Inzaghi’s dream is to set the record for European goals. He will try to do this with Milan, or possibly another club in the Europa League,” Galliani told Sky Sports.
Inzaghi stands behind Schalke forward Raul on the list of all-time top scorers in continental competition, with 70 strikes to his name.
