Italian Filippo Inzaghi is looking to become the player with most goal scored in European competitions. On Wednesday, the striker moved into shared first place with Spaniard Raul.
Inzaghi’s goal versus Werder Bremen was his 66th ever in a European tournament. 42 of these were scored in the Champions League, ten in the UEFA Cup, two in the Cup Winners Cup, seven in the Intertoto Cup and one in the European Super Cup.
The Italian scored his first European goals for Parma in the 1995-96 season, and went on to do so for Juventus and AC Milan in years to come.
Inzaghi and Raul now lead the all-time ranking ahead of German Gerd Müller, who reached the respectable amount of 62.
