Ipswich Town to sign Ben Godfrey from Atalanta

Ipswich Town are on the verge of signing Ben Godfrey from Atalanta in the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. The well-known and well-respected Italian journalist has claimed on X that Godfrey will move to Premier League club Ipswich on a loan deal from Serie A outfit Atalanta.

Godfrey has been on the books of Atalanta since the summer of 2024 when he joined from Everton. Much was expected of the Englishman when he moved to the Italian club, but he has failed to do much of note.

The 26-year-old has made only five appearances in all matches for Atalanta this season. Atalanta are second in the Serie A table at the moment with 41 points from 18 matches, three points behind leaders Napoli, who have played 19 games. Meanwhile, Ipswich currently find themselves third from bottom in the Premier League table with 15 points from 19 matches, a point behind 17th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
