Bundesliga side VfL Bochum’s Portuguese keeper Daniel Fernandes has joined Greek Super League outfit Iraklis on loan till the end of the season. Iraklis were in the market for a keeper after releasing Polish veteran Kowalewski, and Fernandes, who is looking for first team football with a view to securing a seat on the Portuguese flight to South Africa this summer, fit the bill perfectly.
Fernandes was born in Edmonton, Canada and was with the Vancouver Whitecaps before crossing the Atlantic to join FC Porto. After short spells with Porto, Celta Vigo and Jahn Regensburg, he signed for PAOK in 2003. After five successful seasons with PAOK, he transferred to Bochum for a fee of 1.2 million euros in May 2008.
Fernandes is contracted to Bochum till 2012.
