Is Cesc Fabregas set to join Manchester United?

Manchester United have bid £25million for former-Arsenal ace Cesc Fabregas

According to reports from Sky Sports,Manchester United have bid £25million for Barcelona and Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas, as United boss David Moyes looks to strengthen his options in the centre of the park.

Needed

It has been well documented that Manchester United have been looking for a new central midfielder for the last couple of seasons.

The Red Devils did not do badly last season, considering people thought there midfield was so weak.

However, with a stronger midfield United could move to the next level and give their continental rivals a better run for their money in the Champions League

Cesc Fabregas would be a superb signing for any team, but for United, he would be an ideal signing. Whether this deal will really happen is another story.

Doubtful

It seems very doubtful that this move will come to fruition. Fabregas is back at his football and spiritual home. He does not want to leave and it appears that Barcelona do not want to sell their Spanish international midfielder. That could change however, should the Spanish champions decide to cash in on the star.

It seems that nobody wants this move to happen, apart from people connected with Manchester United. Although not exactly a regular first team starter at the Nou Camp, Fabregas made 48 appearances in all competitions for Barca last season, scoring 14 goals and getting 11 assists.

I am sure however, that he would prefer to be classed as an important first team player, rather than a player that comes in to fill gaps. He would be an important player at United. I do not think he is cast in that role in Catalonia.

Short

Barcelona could be left short of midfield options if Fabregas does decide that he wants to leave, or Barca decides to sell. Spanish international midfielder Thiago Alcantara recently left the Catalan giants to join Bayern Munich in a deal worth in the region of £21million.

That means that Barcelona have one less option in the centre of midfield. Thiago was considered a bit-part player at Barca, but Fabregas is probably considered slightly more important to the Barcelona squad, if not the starting eleven. Selling the 26-year-old would definitely weaken the Barca squad.

Arsenal

Fabregas is of course a former-Arsenal captain. The Gunners are believed to be interested in re-signing their former star midfielder. According to the Telegraph, Fabregas has a £25million buy-back clause in his Barcelona contract.

Arsenal are believed to be ready to splash the cash this summer to strengthen their squad. Buying Fabregas back would definitely add quality to their central midfield. However, it currently looks like the Gunners have decided not to make a move for their former-captain.

Alternative

The Telegraph claims that David Moyes is keen to unite Fabregas in central midfielder with Everton star Marouane Fellaini. The big Belgium star has a minimum fee release clause of £22.5million in his contract.

Last season was Fellaini’s best campaign in English football so far and he is expected to move this summer. Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the highly-rated star, but have yet to make a bid.

Fabregas and Fellaini in United’s midfield sounds like a winning combination to me. It does however seem like an unlikely prospect.

Good move

If Cesc Fabregas were to move away from Barcelona, then Manchester United would not be a bad destination. He knows the country, having spent eight years here and he knows the culture. More importantly, Fabregas knows what it takes to play in the English top-flight.

The move from Spanish champions to English champions could not be described as a bad one either, especially if Fabregas would be getting first team football and opportunities to win trophies. For some reason though I just cannot see Fabregas moving to Old Trafford this summer.

Will Cesc Fabregas sign for Manchester United this summer?

Well Fabregas was better at Arsenal than he is at Barcelona he should move is my answer. He is like 1 of 3 players at Barca who dont cheat though. If he moves back to England maybe he will become his better self again

I wish he moves to United as well, but I think Fellaini would be the most realistic option. United shouldn’t waste another month waiting to land somebody they can’t.
