Is Eden Hazard heading for the Premier League this summer?

Belgian wonderkid Eden Hazard is being linked with a summer move to Premier League Tottenham.

The Lille playmaker has already been linked with some of the top teams in Europe. Now Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that he is interested in signing the youngster.

Interest

The Spurs boss told L’Equipe: “ Our chairman is willing to pay for an exceptional talent, like Eden Hazard. I have seen him several times recently in Marseille [in January] and then also against PSG in the final of the Coupe de France [last May].

“But I also know that Manchester United are looking at him and also Manchester City. It will be difficult to get him, but I like him a lot.”

Competition

Although the Spurs boss holds an interest in the midfielder he faces stiff competition to sign him. As he revealed in his quote, Manchester City and Manchester United are apparently interested in signing Hazard.

Both clubs would probably have a better chance of signing the talented youngster than Spurs. City and United have far bigger resources than their London counterparts and could offer more of a chance of silverware next season.

Doubts

The fact that Harry Redknapp’s future as boss of Tottenham is in doubt also makes a move for Hazard seem unlikely. If Redknapp goes then there is expected to be a mass exodus in the summer, which would leave Spurs severely weakened.

Favourites

If Hazard is heading for the English top flight next summer then I would suggest the two Manchester clubs would be the favourites to sign him. He has also previously been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past.

Manchester United seem to lack creatively in the middle of the park and 21 year-old attacking midfielder could provide that. Not only is he good at creating goals he has also managed to find the net 11 times in Ligue One this season.

Although United are leading the Premier League everybody acknowledges that they need a new central midfielder and Hazard could be the answer.

Wonderkid

Eden Hazard is regarded as one of the brightest young players in European football. The sort of player that has attracted scouts from the biggest clubs on the continent. He would be a marquee signing for whoever signs him.

It is crucial that Manchester United start signing this sort of player. The Champions know they are lagging behind the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in Europe and this is the sort of signing that could help change that.

United have started to sign promising young English players like Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. However United boss Sir Alex Ferguson knows that he will have to spend big if his club is to compete with their Spanish counterparts.

Space

I just can’t see where Eden Hazard would fit in at Manchester City. However that hasn’t stopped the Citizens signing players in the past. City are bound to be interested in Hazard, as he is so highly-rated. I just can’t see them signing the Belgian international.

Spain

Real Madrid and Barcelona are also believed to be interested in signing Hazard. Like City though I can’t see where he would fit in at either club. Real have an array of attacking players and Barcelona are exactly the same.

A move to La Liga seems unlikely, as he has stated previously that if he were to move he would want to be playing regular first team football at his new club.

Move

If Hazard does arrive in the Premier League this summer I believe that Manchester United would be the ideal destination. He would be at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, yet if he arrived at Old Trafford he would probably command a regular place in United’s midfield.

Where Eden Hazard’s future lies remains to be seen but wherever he ends up he promises to have a bright future ahead of him.
