Arsenal and Chelsea are both reportedly interested in signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle, but according to i Sport, the striker has no intention of leaving St. James’ Park and is keen to reaffirm his commitment by signing a new long-term contract with his current club.
Newcastle have managed to tie down Anthony Gordon for the long term by agreeing terms of a new deal this week, with the former Everton winger repeatedly linked with Liverpool. They intend to turn that success into a series of getting their key players to recommit, and Isak appears to be next on that list, despite his current contract running until 2028.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old striker’s status in the Premier League is on the rise, and the Magpies are believed to be aware of the need to make his new contract far more lucrative than the current one, which he signed upon joining the club in 2022.
