El Confidencial reports that Spanish midfielder Isco was on the verge of leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The Spain international was looking for a way out of Santiago Bernabeu after struggling for playing time and he was close to quitting los Blancos.
According to El Confidencial, Tottenham Hotspur and Malaga attempted to sign the player on loan in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Spurs reportedly reached an agreement with Real Madrid, but the deal fell through as the Premier League club were shocked at the player’s high wage demands.
Meanwhile, Isco also had the opportunity to return to former club Malaga, but the deal failed to materialise as los Boquerones were unable to cash in on Ignacio Camacho, who had been set to sign for West Bromwich Albion.
As a result, Isco now has no choice but to fight for his place at Real Madrid, and he has so far made just two substitute appearances in La Liga.
