Watford have been diligent in the final days of the English summer transfer window. After signing Danny Welbeck on Wednesday from Arsenal, on a three-year deal, the Hornets have now added another attacking player. The club from Vicarage Road have completed the signing of Rennes forward Ismaila Sarr. The deal is reportedly worth club-record fee of €35m, including add-ons.
The 21-year-old has been Watford’s target for the most part of the summer, but the deal was left this late in the window, due to his commitments for the national team. Sarr took part at the Africa Cup of Nations, where his Senegal reached the final, before losing to Algeria.
Sarr made 35 appearances for Rennes in Ligue 1 last season, scoring eight goals and adding six assists. He will be an interesting new piece to Javi Gracia’s side, who have surprised many last season with some fine performances and a run to the FA Cup final.
