It’s the haves vs. the have not’s at Etihad Stadium tomorrow

Tomorrow will see the richest club in the world Manchester City come up against one of the less rich clubs in the Premier League Everton.

Now you would usually say this will be a no contest but this is Everton we are talking about.

Hoodoo

Everton have something of a Hoodoo over Manchester City at their home ground in recent seasons.

Everton have won at City on their last four visits and also defeated City at Goodison Park last season. City will have to break that run if they are to continue their good start to the season.

Crisis

The way some people are talking in the media there is a crisis at Manchester City. Just because the megarich club have drawn the last  two big matches. Teams are bound to have high and low points in a season and no team is perfect.

And if you believe the media hype surrounding Everton you’d think that the Toffee’s were bottom of the table with no players left. Sure the club are in debt but so is most of the other Premier League clubs. However they don’t publish it in the press or talk to supporters groups about their money troubles.

Spirit

What Everton lack in money they make up for in spirit. The club has always had a great fighting. Everybody at the club come together and that’s what’s happened this season so far. Most fans have got behind the team and they have played well in the recent Premier League games.

Manchester City have lacked that spirit in recent seasons and its cost them points. However they are starting to show it more this season. This game will be a big test to see how far Manchester City have really came.

If City manage to bounce back from what were perceived as bad results (excluding Carling Cup) and beat Everton we will know that City are now the real deal.

Cahill

One man Manchester City really need to stop is Everton’s Tim Cahill. The Socceroo has been playing as a makeshift striker in recent games but hasn’t yet scored this season. However he has scored in Everton’s last three visits to City and he will be looking to break his duck tomorrow lunchtime.

Cahill epitomises David Moyes side. He just never gives up, even when things seem to be lost. If any player summed up David Moyes reign then it would be the Aussie. Just like Moyes team he battles, niggles and he is just a consummate professional.

Tight

For all the millions spent and superstar players arriving at Manchester City this summer, this game will be a tight one. City have managed to steamroll a lot of their opponents at the Etihad Stadium this season but I’d like to think Everton are stronger than that.

David Moyes will have the Blues well organised and it could be a long frustrating day for the City players trying to break the backline down. Everton have played the classic counter-attack game on their last visits to City and I expect the same tomorrow.

Test

This will without doubt be Manchester City’s biggest test so far this season. It will be a test of City’s mental and physical strength as they go up against David Moyes hard to beat side. City need to get back to winning ways to keep up with neighbours Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.

As an Everton fan it pains me to say but I think this Manchester City might just edge this encounter but it certainly won’t be easy for them. David Moyes wouldn’t let it be. If it is easy for City then the real Everton team simply haven’t turned up.

Will Manchester City break their Everton hoodoo tomorrow lunchtime?
