RB Leipzig winger Dani Olmo was one of the players Barcelona considered as they strove to strengthen their attacking line late in the summer transfer window, as relayed by Sport. The Catalan club held talks with Leipzig on the subject, but the move did not happen.
“There wasn’t even really time to think about a transfer, it was all too quick,” Olmo said in an interview with Suddeutsche Zeitung.
The 23-year-old added he was now focused on his season with Leipzig and expressed eagerness to play, both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League, where his team faces Manchester City at the Etihad on Wednesday in the opening round of Group A.
Barcelona director Mateu Alemany was reluctant to speak about players who don’t play for his club, but he admitted they had contacts about several potential attacking options which eventually turned into the signing of Luuk de Jong from Sevilla.
