Italian giants battle for Brazilian starlet

Portuguese newspaper A Bola has learned that a number of Italy’s top sides are keeping close tabs on Atletico Paranense winger Marcelo Cirino da Silva.

The 21-year-old has played a key role in helping his side to a third-place finish in the league, earning the Revelation of the Year award in the process.

And it appears that his impressive displays did not go unnoticed, with the likes of Napoli, Inter Milan, Udinese and Zenit all showing interest.

Marcelo has a contract until June 2015 at Atletico Paranense and is likely to be available for €3.5 million, so no wonder he is heavily linked with a January move to Europe.

The talented footballer has been in scintillating form this season, having managed 7 goals and 6 assists in 31 league outings.

Marcelo, who is likened to PSG’s Lucas Moura for his style of play, has yet to be handed his first Brazil cap.
