A host of Italy’s top sides have been credited with an interest in Atalanta defender Yohan Benalouane, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The French defender has been in excellent form ever since he joined Orobici from Parma and he is now being linked with a big club move.
While AS Roma and Inter Milan showed their interest in the winter, the latest reports suggest Serie A high-flyers Sampdoria and Fiorentina are also keen.
The two clubs have big ambitions for the following season and they want Benalouane to add much needed steel to their back line.
The 27-year-old came through the youth ranks at Saint Etienne and while he started his career as a full-back, he has mostly been used as a central defender of late.
It is this versatility that is one of Benalouane’s biggest qualities and struggling Atalanta clearly face an uphill battle in an attempt to keep hold of the experienced footballer.
