(GSM) – The Italian taxman has warned Diego Maradona in the prospect of his planned return to Napoli.

The Argentine football legend wants to celebrate his 50th birthday in Naples. Maradona wants to organise a high-profile friendly match with former team-mates Bruno Giordano and Brazilian Careca already apparently confirmed as taking part.

‘El Pelusa’ never paid any tax in his seven years at Napoli and owes the state around €30million.

Police have already seized two watches and a pair of earrings from Maradona on his previous visits to Italy.

“The fact that Diego Maradona was a great footballer and is still loved by fans does not put him in a different position from anyone else with respect to the payments,” a statement read.
