Italy had the gloss taken off their comfortable victory in Montenegro last night as Udinese forward Antonio Di Natale fell awkwardly on an uneven pitch and was carried off after only seven minutes of play.

“I went to press on the player who was holding the ball, but I put my foot wide and my knee jumped,” explained the former Empoli player during a press conference at the end of the game.

“I immediately felt a strong pain. I’m not calm, because I feel too much pain.”
