Portuguese midfielder Iuri Medeiros is struggling to break into the first team at Sporting CP and is set to leave the club this winter.

The 23-year-old will be given a chance to kick-start his career with a January loan and Portuguese media outlet Abola suggest that an agreement is in place for the talented midfielder to join the Serie A side Genoa.

The Italians are hoping to land Iuri on a loan until the season with an option to buy.

Should a deal take place, Iuri Medeiros would join compatriot Niguel Veloso over at I Rossoblu.

Iuri Medeiros had a successful loan spell over at Boavista last term but his return to Alvelade is not going according to plan as he only managed eight appearances thus far.

He featured for the B side and was in the team this weekend for a derby match against Benfica which ended in a 2-1 defeat.
