Colombian defender Ivan Ramiro Cordoba has announced that he plans to leave Inter at the end of the season.
The veteran defender has been nothing more than a bit-part player at Giuseppe Meazza over the last few years and he feels the time has come to leave the club where he spent last 13 years.
The Colombian has written an open letter to the fans that was published on club’s official website.
“Dear fans, tomorrow on the occasion of the derby it will be my last game as a player at San Siro,” the letter read.
“I chose to tell you this after talking with President Massimo Moratti, the directors and the coach.
“Right now I am, as are all of you, concentrated on the game, but there will certainly be the time and place in the next few weeks to talk about my future and remember with great pleasure the 13 seasons we spent together.
“We experienced them with passion, respect and always sharing everything, from the difficult moments to the extraordinary victories.
“As with every match, tomorrow night we need your support.
Ivan Cordoba.”
The Colombian defender joined Inter in a €16 million deal from San Lorenzo in January 2000 and he soon developed into a key player for the Neroazzurri.
After ten years as a first team regular at San Siro, Cordoba lost his place in the side during the 2009/2010 season and was since mostly restricted to substitute appearances.
Cordoba has featured in just 4 Serie A games this season, while he also made one appearance in the Coppa Italia.
