Ivan Rakitic has admitted he is flattered by interest from Atletico Madrid, with the Croatian seriously pondering a move to Vicente Calderon.
The Croatian midfielder, whose contract with Schalke runs out at the end of the season, admits he would like to join Atletico.
“Would I like to join Atletico? Of course. It is one of the biggest clubs in Spain and every good player would like to play there,” Rakitic said.
“The stadium, the city and the fans are fantastic and it’s a compliment for any player that Atletico are interested in them.”
Schalke have offered the Croat a new three-year deal.
“My contract with Schalke expires at the end of the season. They have offered me a new three-year contract.”
Rakitic could make a decision regarding his future during the winter break, but as it now seems he is very close to accepting an offer from Atletico Madrid.
