Kashiwa Reysol defeated Yokohama F. Marinos 2-0 on Saturday to move top of the J.League, with Sanfrecce Hiroshima also winning.
Goals from Leandro Domingues and Jorge Wagner secured the victory for the hosts at Kashiwa Hitachi Stadium.
Kashiwa are now top of the league by one point with 20 matches played, while Yokohama slip to second.
Elsewhere, goals in each half, first from Tadanari Lee and then from Hisato Sato, helped Sanfrecce run out 2-0 winners in their match away to Ventforet Kofu.
Kashima Antlers struck twice in the space of two minutes as they saw off Montedio Yamagata 3-1.
Takuya Nozawa and Yuya Osako were the men on target in the 20th and 24 minute respectively.
Tetsuro Ota pulled one back for the away team, but Toru Araiba made sure when he struck Kashima’s third two minutes before the hour mark.
Urawa Reds came from 2-0 down to level at 2-2 in their match at home to Vissel Kobe, before a 90th-minute penalty from Yoshito Okubo snatched a 3-2 victory for the visitors.
Two first-half goals from Hiroshi Kiyotake and Shu Kurata helped visitors Cerezo Osaka overcome Kawasaki Frontale 2-1.
And finally, Albirex Niigata smashed Shimizu S-Pulse 4-0, with Brazilian midfielder Michael netting a brace in the heavy win.
