According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa star Jack Grealish convinced Ross Barkley to join the club from Chelsea. Former Everton attacking midfielder Barkley moved to the Villans on a season-long loan deal from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The role that attacking midfielder Grealish played in Barkley’s move to Villa has now been disclosed. The 25-year-old England international, who can also operate as a winger, called and texted his compatriot over a three-year period to convince him to switch to Villa Park.
Barkley played 40 minutes in the Premier League for Chelsea this season before his season-long loan move to Villa, for whom he has scored one goal in one league appearance, according to WhoScored. The 26-year-old is a very good attacking midfielder who could form a brilliant partnership with Grealish in the coming weeks and months.
