Colombian striker Jackson Martinez is interested in joining Spanish giants Valencia, according to the player’s official representative.
Following yet another impressive campaign, the 28-year-old is widely expected to leave FC Porto for greener pastures, although he will not be available on the cheap.
And with Valencia the latest high-profile side to join the race for his signature, Martinez’s agent admits a summer move to Mestalla would appeal to his client.
“Valencia? It is always a great option,” agent Luiz Henrique Pompeo told Superdeporte. “It is a big club in Spain and Europe, but this is something that depends on FC Porto, the club with whom Jackson has a contract.”
Jackson Martinez arrived at Estadio do Dragao as a replacement for Radamel Falcao Garcia and he proved to be one of club’s best ever signings.
The Colombian went on to score 67 league goals in three seasons, while also netting eight times in this year’s Champions League.
And while Porto have so far resisted temptation to cash in on their prized asset, chances are Martinez will soon be leaving the Dragons for a new challenge.
