James Rodriguez confirms Inter Milan contact

Real Madrid hotshot James Rodriguez has moved to confirm that he was a target for Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.

The Colombian footballer has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu in recent months, but he eventually remained with los Blancos.

Rodriguez now reveals that Inter Milan were among clubs interested in his signature, but he never really thought about leaving Real Madrid.

“There were no clear offers because I wanted to stay,” Rodriguez told Onda Cero after scoring the opener in the 2-0 triumph over Espanyol.

“Inter wanted me, but I have always had a clear idea of wanting to remain at Real Madrid for many years.”

After the impressive debut campaign, Rodriguez suffered a serious dip in form and he has been in and out of the starting line-up for over a year now.

The 25-year-old only started one of first four La Liga fixtures this season, but he appears ready to stay at the club and fight for his place in Zinedine Zidane’s team.

Rodriguez has so far scored 21 goals in 48 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid.
