James to hold talks with Celtic

(GSM) – England goalkeeper David James will hold talks with Celtic tomorrow, according to reports.

The veteran stopper, who last played for Portsmouth, has reportedly rejected an offer to be Pompey’s player and coach after a disastrous season saw the club relegate to the Championship.

Currently a free agent, James is keen to return to football and has been linked with the Scottish giants as well as the English Premier League’s Sunderland.

Black Cats’ boss Steve Bruce sounded out his interest in acquiring the services of the 40-year-old keeper but it seems that James is close to penning a deal with Celtic.

James has enjoyed a distinguished career in the Premier League, playing for five different teams in the league.

The England keeper has won 53 caps with his country as well as achieving the all-time Premier League record of 536 appearances, surpassing Premier League legend Gary Speed.

James will now hold talks with Celtic manager Neil Lennon and could be the second England first-choice keeper to ply his trade in Scotland after Chris Woods.
