January 12th: Sunday’s FA Cup Double – 8/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With the FA Cup action rolling onto Sunday afternoon, we have a heavyweight all-Premier League showdown on the cards.

Watching Arsenal welcome historic rivals Manchester United to north London, the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham will also look to extend on their respective adventures.

Ahead of a stacked schedule on Sunday afternoon, we have taken a look at some of the FA Cup’s most appealing betting tips.

15:00 Arsenal vs Manchester United

Suffering major EFL Cup frustration earlier in the week as they fell to a 2-0 loss at home against Newcastle, Arsenal are seeking an immediate response here. Currently sat six points adrift of runaway leaders Liverpool, it appears that the FA Cup might be Mikel Arteta’s best chance to get his hands on a piece of silverware this season. Although the Gunners might have recorded just a single clean sheet from any of their previous six appearances across all competitions, they will be excited by a dominant record against their historic rivals. Landing a 2-0 victory when they welcomed Sunday’s guests to north London for a Premier League showdown on December 4th, they have won all of their last four meetings by an aggregate score of 9-3. It should also be highlighted, Arteta’s side have not suffered a single defeat against Manchester United at the Emirates since way back in January 2019.

Although there might have been plenty of excitement around Old Trafford back in November following Ruben Amorim’s arrival, Sunday’s guests have drastically struggled to find any kind of stability. Despite snatching a thrilling 2-2 stalemate away at Anfield last weekend, that is the only point that Manchester United have recorded from any of their previous four Premier League appearances. Battling it out in the bottom-half of the table, the former Sporting Lisbon boss already has mounting pressure on his shoulders. Crashing out of the EFL Cup last month following an action-packed 4-3 loss against Tottenham, Amorim’s new squad have continued to gain a reputation for their glaring defensive struggles. Including a 3-0 drumming against Bournemouth on December 22nd, Manchester United have conceded 13 goals in just their previous five matchups across all fronts. Likewise, the Reds have recorded just a single clean sheet since returning from November’s international break.

15:00 Crystal Palace vs Stockport

While Crystal Palace might have endured a nightmare start to the 2024/25 campaign, Oliver Glasner’s side have turned a recent corner. Dragging themselves out of the relegation zone, the Eagles will be excited to get their FA Cup adventure underway on Sunday afternoon. Last seen opening the New Year with a 1-1 stalemate at home against Chelsea, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss has seen his squad lose just one of their previous nine Premier League appearances. With that run stemming all the way back to the start of November, Palace have also collected some eye-catching scalps. With their recent turn in fortunes underlined by a 3-1 romp away at arch-rivals Brighton last month, Glasner’s side have also snatched points off the likes of Newcastle, Aston Villa and defending champions Manchester City. Although the Eagles might have recorded just a single victory in south London since the end of October, Palace are rightfully installed as a landslide contender this weekend.

Although Stockport might have claimed a much-welcomed 2-1 victory against Peterborough last month, it appears that might have just been a minor boost for the Hatters. Last seen falling to a 2-1 defeat at home against Mansfield, Dave Challinor’s side have recorded just a single victory from any of their previous seven appearances across all competitions. Watching their EFL Trophy adventure come to an end on December 10th as they suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Bradford, the Manchester-based outfit have also gained a reputation for their issues away from Edgeley Park. Including a 2-0 loss against Birmingham at the start of December, Stockport have registered just one-point from any of their previous four League One showdowns on the road. Watching their play-off dreams take a major dent over the past month, the Blues will have a real challenge on their hands here.
