January 14th: Tuesday’s English Double – 11/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

While we might have four Premier League showdowns pencilled in for Tuesday night, there is a string of noteworthy affairs from up and down the country.

Alongside a pair of Championship battles, we also have action from the likes of the FA Cup and National League.

Ahead of a stacked Tuesday schedule, we have taken a look at some of the most appealing English betting tips.

19:00 Cheltenham Town vs Colchester United

Although Cheltenham might have signed off 2024 with an action-packed 5-3 loss against Notts County, it appears that might have just been a minor blip for Michael Flynn’s men. Dragging themselves away from the League Two relegation scrap and now sat within touching distance of finding a route into the top-half, Tuesday’s hosts have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous eight appearances across all competitions. Last seen in EFL Trophy action extending on their adventure thanks to a 2-1 victory against Cambridge, the former Newport boss should find the mood in his camp at a continued high. Landing a 2-1 win against Crewe on Boxing Day, Cheltenham should be excited by their overall success on home soil. In fact, Flynn’s side have lost just one of their last 1- showdowns at Whaddon Road – a run that stems all the way back to October 12th.

While Colchester might have enjoyed what was a sensational December purple patch, Danny Cowley’s camp have largely come crashing back down to earth. Putting in a downbeat display last time out as they fell to a 2-0 loss at home against Accrington Stanley, the former Portsmouth boss has seen his squad suffer back-to-back defeats since opening the New Year. Getting 2025 underway with a dramatic 3-2 defeat away at Swindon, the Essex-based outfit have also recorded just a single win from any of their previous six appearances across all competitions. Likewise, mustering just a sole away victory so far this season, Colchester should also be concerned by their most recent showdown against Colchester. Slumping to a 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Tuesday’s hosts to Essex back on October 19th, it should also be noted that they have claimed just a single point from any of their last four battles against the Robins.

19:45 Mansfield Town vs Wigan Athletic

While Mansfield might have only made their League One return this season, the Stags have continued to gain a string of plaudits. With their sights firmly set on wrapping up a shock play-off ticket in 2025, Nigel Clough’s men are enjoying a real flurry. Last seen claiming a 2-1 victory away at Stockport, Tuesday’s hosts have won four of their previous five League One appearances. Getting the New Year underway with an eye-catching 2-1 win at home against Bolton, the Nottinghamshire-based outfit will be desperate to extend on their FA Cup adventure in midweek. Laying down a festive marker on Boxing Day as they stormed their way to a 3-0 romp against Peterborough, Mansfield have also secured back-to-back wins at Field Mill since the start of October. However, it should be noted that Clough’s side have recorded just a single League One clean sheet on home soil over the past three months.

Although Wigan might have opened the 2024/25 campaign with their sights set on mounting their own respective play-off charge, Tuesday’s guests are at the heart of a real League One struggle. Last seen getting the New Year underway with a 3-0 drumming at home against Birmingham Shaun Maloney’s men have continued to show a string of glaring issues. Signing off 2024 with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wrexham, the Latics are scrapping it out in the bottom-half of the League One standings. In fact, the Hibernian boss has seen his squad win just a pair of their last eight matchups across all fronts. Pencilled in as a real underdog contender here, Wigan will also be concerned by their most recent showdown against Tuesday’s hosts. Hit with a shock 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Mansfield to town for a League One battle on October 22nd, Maloney’s side will have another tricky test on their hands.
