January 15th: Wednesday’s Premier League Double – 5/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With the midweek Premier League action rolling onto Wednesday night, we have four showdowns from across England’s elite.

With all eyes falling on the Emirates as Arsenal welcome arch-rivals Tottenham across north London, the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle will also steal centre stage.

For those of you looking to stick on a Wednesday flutter, we have taken a look at two of the most appealing Premier League betting tips.

19:30 Newcastle vs Wolves

While Newcastle might have found themselves at the heart of a real struggle when returning from November’s international break, the Magpies have come roaring back in some style. Claiming a sensational EFL Cup advantage last week as they clinched a 2-0 victory away at Arsenal, Eddie Howe’s men find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Mounting an FA Cup comeback at home against League Two outfit Bromley last weekend as they secured a 3-1 win at St. James’ Park, the former Bournemouth boss has seen his squad win all of their previous eight consecutive appearances across all competitions. Getting the New Year underway with a 2-1 victory against Tottenham, Newcastle are riding what has become an astonishing wave of momentum. Getting the midweek fixtures underway sat within touching distance of skyrocketing into the Champions League spots, Howe’s side will be looking to make another statement at St. James’ Park.

Although Wolves might have only appointed new boss Vitor Pereira last month, Wednesday’s guests certainly enjoyed an immediate bounce. However, despite mustering seven points from their first three Premier League showdowns under the guidance of the former Flamengo manager, Wolves suffered a real blow at Molineux when opening the New Year. Slumping to a 3-0 drumming at home against Nottingham Forest, Pereira’s camp are still at the heart of a relegation scrap. Getting the midweek fixtures underway with just their goal difference keeping them outside of the drop zone, the Midlands-based outfit should also be concerned by a downbeat record against Newcastle. Including a 2-1 loss when they welcomed the Magpies to Molineux for their reverse Premier League battle on September 16th, Wolves have collected just a single point from any of their previous four meetings against the Champions League dreamers.

Newcastle vs Wolves Betting Tip: Joao Gomes to be shown a card @ 2/1 with Pribet

20:00 Arsenal vs Tottenham

Suffering major FA Cup heartbreak at home against historic rivals Manchester United last weekend, Arsenal have the feel of a squad seeking a much-needed boost. Without a win from any of their previous three appearances across all competitions, Mikel Arteta’s men have seen their Premier League title dreams take a major dent. Getting Wednesday’s showdown at the Emirates underway sat six points adrift of Liverpool, the Gunners are facing the prospect of another season without a single piece of silverware. Getting their EFL Cup semi-final adventure underway with a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle, Arsenal have struggled to find any kind of defensive steel. Despite opening the New Year with a 3-1 win away at Brentford, Arteta’s camp have recorded just a sole clean sheet from any of their previous seven showdowns across all fronts. Enduring their longest winless run since returning from November’s International break, Arsenal will have plenty of pressure on their shoulders here.

While Tottenham might have eventually avoided what would have been an infamous FA Cup exit away at fifth-tier outfit Tamworth last weekend, Spurs have drastically struggled to find any kind of stability. Still battling it out in the bottom-half of the Premier League table, Wednesday’s guests have come under some real scrutiny. Getting the New Year underway with a collapse on home soil as they fell to a 2-1 loss against Newcastle, Ange Postecoglou’s men have collected just a single point from any of their previous four Premier League appearances. Slumping to a sensational 6-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on December 22nd, Spurs once again find themselves pencilled in as a landslide underdog in midweek. Along with mustering just one-point from any of their last four trips to the Emirates, Tottenham have also failed to clinch a single Premier League victory away at their arch-rivals since way back in 2010.
