BST 15:00 Oldham vs Woking
Although Oldham might have opened up the 2023/24 campaign tipped as an outside contender in the play-off chase, Saturday’s hosts are enjoying are real National League flurry. Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they secured a 2-0 victory against Barnet, Micky Mellon’s men find the mood in their camp at the highest it has been in recent memory. Skyrocketing their way up the fifth-tier standings, the Latics should be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Opening the New Year with a 1-0 victory away at Dorking, the former Tranmere boss has seen his squad win all of their last four National League appearances by an aggregate score of 8-1. Sat firmly in the driving seat to clinch a play-off ticket in 2024, it should also be noted that Oldham have lost just a trio of their previous 12 matchups across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to November 4th. On the flip side, continuing on what has been a real fifth-tier struggle this season, Woking are at the heart of a National League relegation scrap. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat three points adrift of safety, Michael Doyle’s side have remarkably recorded just a single win from any of their last 13 consecutive appearances. Likewise, hit with a 1-0 loss when they welcomed Oldham to the Kingfield Stadium for their reverse National League meeting on November 18th, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
Tip: Oldham win @ 19/20
17:30 Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Mounting a stunning comeback last weekend as they secured a last-gasp 3-2 victory away at RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen have already cemented their spot as one of Europe’s ultimate surprise packages. Breaking a string of records, Xabi Alonso’s men are currently leading the chase at the top of the Bundesliga table and tipped as a leading contender to get their hands on a first domestic crown since 2011. Remarkably unbeaten in all of their first 18 Bundesliga appearances this season, the one-time Liverpool midfielder will simply be calling on his high-flying squad to make another statement this weekend. Breezing their way to a Europa League ticket last month and with their sights firmly set on mounting a European charge in 2024, Alonso’s side are rightfully tipped as a standout contender on Saturday evening. Landing a stellar 3-0 romp when they travelled to Borussia-Park for their reverse Bundesliga showdown on August 26th, a struggling Borussia Monchengladbach will be bracing themselves for another stern examination here. Last seen suffering an infamous collapse on home soil as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Augsburg, the Foals almost find themselves sat in top-flight limbo. Heading into Germany’s festive break with another 2-1 defeat at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt, Gerardo Seoane’s side have gained a reputation for their extended issues on the road. Including a 3-1 drumming against Union Berlin last month, Gladbach have collected just a single point from their previous five Bundesliga contests outside of North Rhine-Westphalia. It should also be noted, Saturday’s guests have recorded just one domestic victory on their travels over the past 12 months.
Tip: Bayer Leverkusen win & Both teams to score @ 13/8
19:45 AC Milan vs Bologna
While AC Milan might face a real uphill battle in their bid to claim a 20th domestic crown this season, the Italian icons are firing on all cylinders. Mounting a dramatic late comeback away at Udinese as they secured a 3-2 victory, Stefano Pioli’s side have won five of their previous six appearances across all competitions. Likewise, suffering just a single loss from any of their last nine outings – a run that stems back to December 9th – the Rossoneri are also enjoying a real free-scoring flurry in the final third. Making a statement on January 14th as they secured a 3-1 romp against historic rivals Roma, the former Lazio boss has seen his squad bag a trio of strikes in all of their last three Serie A showdowns. Sat in pole position to claim another Champions League ticket in 2024, AC Milan will also be excited by their continued success at the San Siro. Including a 4-1 Coppa Italia victory against Cagliari earlier in the month, Pioli’s side have won five of their previous six domestic matchups in front of their own supporters. Although some in Bologna’s camp might still be dreaming of the chance to mount a genuine European charge in 2024, the Greyhounds are enduring a recent wobble. Last seen missing out on what they had billed as a potential opportunity as they slumped to a 2-1 loss away at Cagliari, Saturday’s guests are without a win from their last four meetings against Serie A opposition. Crashing out of the Coppa Italia on January 9th as they suffered penalties heartbreak against Fiorentina, Thiago Motta’s side certainly face a heavyweight challenge here.
