January 6th: Monday’s European Double – 4/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

While a high-flying Nottingham Forest might steal plenty of Monday’s headlines, we still have plenty of European action on the cards.

As QPR welcome Luton to Lotus Road on Monday night, there are also fixtures from the likes of Greece and Portugal.

For those of you looking to stick on a Monday flutter, we have taken a glance at some of the most appealing European betting tips.

16:00 Panetolikos vs Olympiacos

While Olympiacos might have been disappointed last season as they could only claim a bronze medal finish among Greece’s elite, Jose Luis Mendilibar finds his squad pencilled in as a leading title contender this time around. Making real history last summer as they got their hands on a maiden piece of European silverware, Monday’s guests will simply be looking to carry on from where they left off prior to the festive interval. Last seen signing off 2024 with a gritty 1-0 victory against Lamia, the former Sevilla boss has not seen his squad suffer a single defeat from any of their previous 12 appearances across all competitions. With just a single Super League defeat to their name since back on September 21st, Olympiacos will also be excited by their rugged success at the back. Including a thumping 3-0 victory against Volos last month, Mendilibar has seen his squad concede just a single strike

Heading into Greece’s festive interval with a toothless performance as they eventually had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate away at Panserraikos, Monday’s hosts are seeking some much-needed stability. Despite enjoying an eye-catching flurry back in October, Panetolikos have mustered just a single victory from any of their previous five Super League appearances. Likewise, mustering just a pair of wins from any of their previous eight matchups, Giannis Petrakis’ men have also shown some recent issues in the final third. Including a 1-0 loss against Greek giants PAOK last month, the Canaries have drawn back-to-back Super League blanks for the first time since August. Pencilled in as a landslide underdog when they return to Agrinio on Monday afternoon, Panserraikos should also be worried by their struggles on home soil. In fact, Petrakis’ side have lost three of their last four showdowns in front of their own supporters.

20:00 QPR vs Luton Town

Opening the New Year with a stellar display as they secured a thumping 3-1 win against Watford, QPR are enjoying what has become a real flurry. Holding a six-point buffer over the drop zone, Monday’s hosts will now be looking to move within touching distance of the top-half. Including a 2-1 victory against Preston last month, Marti Cifuentes’ men have remarkably suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous 10 Championship appearances. With that purple patch stemming all the way back to a 2-0 loss against leading promotion candidates Leeds on November 9th, it appears that the mood around Loftus Road is at a red-hot high. Smelling another real opportunity here, QPR have also gained a reputation for their success on home soil. Laying down a marker last month as they cruised their way to a 3-0 victory against Norwich, the Hoops have won all of their last four consecutive showdowns in west London by an aggregate score of 10-2.

While Luton might have opened the new campaign with their sights set on securing an immediate Premier League return, Rob Edwards’ men find themselves at the heart of a public struggle. Despite clinching a 2-1 victory against Derby last month, it appears that might have just been a minor boost for Monday’s guests. Last seen on New Year’s Day suffering a 1-0 loss at home against Norwich, the one-time Watford boss has some serious pressure on his shoulders. Signing off 2024 with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Swansea, Luton have lost each of their previous three Championship appearances by an aggregate score of 4-1. It should also be highlighted, the Hatters have lost four of their last five showdowns. Failing to collect back-to-back Championship victories since the middle of September, Edwards’ men have also shown some glaring issues on the road. In fact, Luton have remarkably lost all of their last nine straight appearances away from Kenilworth Road.
