Japanese striker snubs Chelsea in favour of Bundesliga switch

Sports Nippon is reporting that FC Tokyo striker Yoshinori Muto has agreed to sign for Bundesliga outfit Mainz.

The same source has suggested that the two clubs have reached an agreement worth €3 million that would see the 22 year old move to German Bundesliga in the summer.

Tokyo FC representatives recently revealed that Premier League giants Chelsea were showing interest in their prized asset, but it appears Mainz were the first side to make a concrete move.

Muto enjoyed a very successful first professional season last term, bagging 13 goals in 33 league outings and he has since continued the rich vein of form.

The talented forward has already scored 8 goals in 11 league matches this term, proving he is rightly regarded as one of country’s hottest prospects.

Muto has also started leaving his mark on international football, having earned 11 Japan caps, scoring one goal in the process.
