ESPN is reporting that Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano is almost certain to join Hebei Fortune in the winter transfer window.
The 33-year-old has another 18 months left on his contract at Camp Nou, but he has decided to leave the Catalans for China.
Mascherano has already agreed a three-year deal with Hebei Fortune that will see his current salary doubled, while Barcelona will earn €10 million from the deal.
Even though the Catalans are short of options at the back, they will not stand in the player’s way as he has proved to be a very loyal servant over the past seven and a half years.
During that time, Mascherano was mostly used as a central defender, amassing 202 La Liga appearances.
