Argentine striker Javier Saviola looks set to leave Benfica in January, according to Record.
The former Barcelona forward is no longer considered a first team regular at La Luz, and he could leave the club in search for first team football.
The player’s agent is set to expire at the end of the season, although Benfica have the option to extend his contract for another year.
However, since Saviola is unlikely to agree to a new deal at La Luz, the Eagles could decide to sell him in January so as to avoid losing him for free next summer.
According to Record, Villarreal could make a move for the experienced striker as the Yellow Submarine is looking for a replacement for Giuseppe Rossi, who is unlikely to feature again this season.
