Javier Zanetti wary of high-flying Spurs

Inter captain Javier Zanetti admits Inter will have to be careful when they host in-form Tottenham tomorrow evening. The two teams have picked up 4 points each from their two group games, and that should guarantee us an exciting encounter at Giuseppe Meazza.

Despite the fact that Tottenham are on a three-match winning run at the moment, sports betting sites see Inter as clear favourites in tomorrow’s game. Nevertheless, the Neroazzurri legend Javier Zanetti expects a tough encounter with the Premiership side.

“They are a good team who can put you in difficulty on the counter attack. We must be careful on set-pieces and have to be very concentrated,” Zanetti said.

“We respect all the teams in our Champions League group, which is very balanced. We must give the maximum to qualify as soon as possible.

“Benitez has a team available to him that allows him to play with different formations provided that we are all healthy and we train well.”

Inter players have come under severe criticism following another poor performance and a narrow win over Cagliari and they have every right to fear high-flying Tottenham even if Rafa Benitez knows Spurs inside out from his time at Liverpool.

The Spaniard again faces a real selection headache with Diego Milito, Esteban Cambiaso, Mancini and McDonald Mariga all sidelined with injuries, especially after Thiago Motta and Jonathan Biabiany picked up knocks in the Serie A game against Cagliari.

Harry Redknapp, on the other hand, has got issues of his own with Rafael van der Vaart, Ledley King, Jermain Defoe and Michael Dawson all unavailable, so he’ll be forced to tinker with his formation as well.

Even with so many stars missing for both sides, Inter’s sheer quality and Tottenham’s uncompromising style of play should offer the fans at Giuseppe Meazza and unforgettable evening of football, with the game set to be much closer than most pundits expect.
