On Spain’s transfer deadline day, Getafe has been one of the busier sides as they recently announced that they have acquired Jefferson Montero on loan from Swansea City.
The Ecuadorian international makes the switch to La Liga on his 28th birthday, as the loan deal with his new club will be until the end of the season.
Montero is no stranger to Spain as the veteran winger spent four years playing for teams such as Villarreal, Levante and Real Betis.
Since joining Swansea City in 2014, the Ecuadorian made 72 total appearances for the Welsh club and managed to score one goal.
Recently, he had fallen out of favour at the Liberty Stadium. With his appearances dwindling, Montero was sent to play with the Swans’ U23 side and played in just 13 matches with the senior squad all of last season.
Now the forward will be back in familiar territory, and will try to rekindle his career with the recently promoted Getafe.
