Jelavic nears Everton exit

Daily Mirror has suggested that Everton are prepared to offload striker Nikica Jelavic in the January transfer window.

Roberto Martinez is reportedly looking to sign a new striker in the winter after summer signing Arouna Kone picked up a serious injury, which will in turn see Jelavic leave the club.

West Ham are reportedly pondering a loan deal for the Croat, but Everton would prefer an outright sale.

Nikica Jelavic was an instant hit at Goodison Park having joined the club from Celtic in January 2012, scoring 9 goals in first 13 Premier League matches for the Toffees.

However, he has largely struggled for playing time of late, and has made just one substitute appearance during the last two months.

The player himself is also hoping to quit Everton in an attempt to keep his place in the Croatia squad ahead of the World Cup finals, so everything suggests a January exit is on the cards.
