Jeremy Menez on Atletico radar
Atletico Madrid are showing interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Jeremy Menez, reports Spanish daily newspaper AS.
Los Colchoneros are determined to build on what is a very promising season and are already thinking about summer reinforcements.
And Spanish AS has suggested that PSG winger Jeremy Menez is one of the first names on club’s hit-list for the summer transfer window.
Los Colchoneros hope to increase competition for places on the wing since Diego Ribas da Cunha and Jose Sosa are currently on loan at Vicente Calderon and might not be staying beyond this season.
Jeremy Menez is out of contract in June, meaning he would be a much cheaper alternative to some of club’s other targets, although the problem is the 26-year-old is also wanted by some of Italy’s top clubs.
The highly rated footballer has yet to make a decision on his future, but everything suggests he will be leaving on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
Roberto Firmino in high demand
Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino has a long list of suitors among Europe’s top clubs, according to Bild.
The Brazilian attacker has set the Bundesliga alight with his performances this season, having managed 12 goals and 9 assists in 22 league outings.
The likes of AC Milan, Liverpool, Zenit, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Wolfsburg are all believed to be keen, while the latest reports suggest Schalke have joined the race as well.
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has refused to comment on the speculations, but he didn’t exactly rule out a bid for the 22-year-old attacker.
All eyes will be on Roberto Firmino when the Miners host Hoffenheim at Veltins Arena tomorrow, with the Brazilian 13/5 to score anytime.
And with the forward’s contract due to expire in June 2015, chances are he will be sold to the highest bidder in the summer transfer window.
Benfica eyeing Argentine starlet
Argentine newspaper El Litoral understands that Benfica are keeping close tabs on Colon forward Carlos Martin Luque.
The Eagles have been alerted of the player’s potential a while back and they had scouts present as Colon faced Godoy Cruz on Tuesday.
Having registered two goals in back to back triumphs over River Plate and Rosario Central, Luque failed to get on the scoresheet in midweek, but he produced a promising performance that will have left visiting scouts satisfied.
The Eagles could see several high-profile attackers leave in the summer transfer window and they believe the 21-year-old would be a good addition to the squad.
Carlos Martin Luque has spent his entire career up to date at Colon, scoring 2 goals in 68 league appearances for the club.
The youngster can cover a number of positions up front, and it is this versatility that is considered one of his greatest assets.
