According to The Chronicle, Jetro Willems wants to return to Newcastle United. It has been reported that the versatile 26-year-old has turned down the offer of a new contract from his German club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Willems is out of contract at Newcastle at the end of the season, and in order to get a transfer fee for the Netherlands international, Frankfurt want to tie him down to a new deal. However, the 26-year-old, who can operate as a left-back or as a left wing-back, wants to leave the German club on a free next summer and is keen on a return to Newcastle.
The Dutchman joined Newcastle on loan from Eintracht in the summer of 2020, but an injury in January 2020 ended his 2019-20 campaign. According to WhoScored, the 26-year-old made 18 starts and one substitute appearance for the Magpies, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process.
