The Cottagers are apparently dealing with the situation regarding the future of Aleksandar Mitrovic, their long-serving star frontman, who is very keen to leave the club in light of a chance to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. They’re said to have rejected offers for his services already, and Mitrovic is apparently angry about their stance, believing he was being priced out of the market.

But with Jimenez set to join their ranks now, it stands to reason to assume they’ll soon be prepared to consider a selling the Serbia international.

Newcastle complete Barnes deal

Newcastle have completed and officially confirmed the transfer of Harvey Barnes from Leicester City.

The final price of the services of the 25-year-old winger is believed to be around £39 million, which is close enough to what the Magpies reportedly offered Leicester in the first place.

Barnes is a product of the Leicester academy, and he had loan spells with MK Dons, Barnsley and West Bromwich Albion before being given a proper shot at first-team football at the King Power Stadium. In all competitions, he made a total of 187 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 37 goals and producing 31 assists, and winning the FA Cup along with the Community Shield in 2021.

Everton land Arnaut Danjuma on loan

Everton have confirmed that have managed to bring Arnaut Danjuma to the club on loan from Villarreal. The winger joins the Merseyside Blues on loan for the 2023/24 season.

Everton were close to taking the 26-year-old in January, but at at the last minute, Tottenham Hotspur stepped in and stole the deal. Danjuma played a total of 169 minutes across nine Premier League matches for Spurs, but he managed to put the ball in the back of the opposition net just once, with no assists at all.

As Everton tweeted, this transfer should be a new beginning for Danjuma, another chance to make his mark in the English top flight, and maybe help the team avoid another desperate relegation struggle.

There’s obviously no room for Romelu Lukaku in the ranks of Mauricio Pochettino, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Datro Fofana are no longer at Stamford Bridge, though the latter has joined Union Berlin only on a one-season loan. Armando Broja is still there and reportedly keen to make an impact, but it remains to be seen just how much trust Pochettino is willing to put in the young Albanian with the club in desperate need of a season better than 2022/23.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are also keen on building on the success of last season, having earned a place in the Europa Conference League qualifications, and with two years left on Watkins’s contract, they won’t be too keen to sell their main source of goals.
