(GSM) – Gerrmany faces a tough battle in group D where they will have to fight with Australia, Serbia and Ghana in group D for a place in the final stages.

Germany are always among the favourites for the World Cup. For the 2010 edition they will have to see off some difficult opponents in their group.”This is an interesting group,” Germany coach Joachim Loew said. “We have to take the challenge. It’s important to win the first match against Australia.

“If we’re able to win the opening match we’ll face the next opponents with a lot of confidence,” Loew added.

German FA president Theo Zwanziger agreed with Loew and thinks Germany has a good chance of advancing to the next rounds. “I think, the German Football Association can be happy with the result of the draw,” Zwanziger said.

“We avoided a so called ‘group of death’ but that doesn’t mean that our team will stroll to the eighth finals. The other three countries don’t have a big history in football but for example, Serbia has beat France in their qualification group and Ghana can beat every team on a good day.

“But, in the end, I’m convinced that Germany will reach the eighth finals.”
