Joao Cancelo set for permanent Valencia switch

Portuguese daily newspaper Record has learned that Valencia aim to turn Joao Cancelo’s loan move into permanent deal.

New los Che coach Nuno Espirito Santo signed the youngster on a season-long loan from Benfica in the summer and he seems to believe the 20-year-old will develop into a very good player at Mestalla.

Cancelo may have only made three La Liga appearances, but he started as many Copa del Rey fixtures and currently deputizes for starting right-back Antonio Barragan, while his more experienced teammate Joao Pereira is not even considered for starting places.

According to Record, Valencia aim to secure the talented footballer on permanent deal and his parent club Benfica are unlikely to stand in the way.

Cancelo has a contract until June 2018 at Estadio da Luz and a €20 million release clause, but it is believed he will be available at a reasonable price.

Valencia currently sit one point behind fourth-placed Sevilla in the La Liga standings, but los Che can be backed at 10/11 for a top 4 finish.
