Monaco playmaker Joao Moutinho has confirmed his plans to return to FC Porto before his playing career comes to an end.
The highly rated footballer caused a great deal of controversy when he left Sporting CP to sign for the Dragons, and despite spending just three years at Estadio do Dragao, the 29-year-old is eager to return one day in the future.
Moutinho admits he has a soft spot for FC Porto and that he plans to represent the club one more time before he hangs up his boots.
“I have said that one day I would like to return and it doesn’t matter if it happens in one, two or five years,” Moutinho said at a press conference.
“It’s a club that struck me and continues to do so. It’s a club I like and support.”
Joao Moutinho has been linked with Monaco exit in recent months, but it remains to be seen whether he will be returning to Estadio do Dragao this summer.
The cultured midfielder has been included in Portugal’s Euro 2016 squad after recovering from injury and he is expected to play an important role at the tournament finals.
