Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola has learned that FC Porto are keen on Monaco playmaker Joao Moutinho.
The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Stade Louis II for a while now, and the Principality club wouldn’t mind seeing one of their highest earners leave this summer having significantly lowered the wage budget.
According to A Bola, FC Porto chairman Pinto da Costa is keen on bringing Moutinho back to Estadio do Dragao and he has already been in talks with the player’s representatives.
The midfielder’s €3.7 million yearly wage has proved to be a problem so far, but it is believed both sides are ready to make exceptions to ensure the deal goes ahead.
Joao Moutinho spent three years at FC Porto after leaving Sporting Lisbon, making 83 league appearances and scoring 4 goals.
He has been linked with Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid in the past, and it remains to be seen where he will end up.
