LA Galaxy have announced the signing of Portuguese footballer Joao Pedro Almeida Machado from Vitorial Guimaraes.
The 23-year-old arrives at the club as a Special Discovery Player and he will be eligible to represent his new side upon the receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.
Joao Pedro had been with Vitoria Guimaraes since 2005 and he went on to make 20 league appearances for the senior squad.
The talented midfielder only nailed down a regular starting berth this season, but he showed a great deal of promise in 17 Primeira Liga starts.
Following some impressive displays in the first part of the league campaign, Pedro was surprisingly given the opportunity to move to the United States and he decided to grab it with both hands.
The move to LA Galaxy will give him the chance to train and play alongside the likes of Robbie Keane, Landon Donovan, Ashley Cole and Giovani dos Santos, among other players.
