Sporting Lisbon are stepping up their efforts to sign Arsenal forward Joel Campbell, O Jogo can reveal.
The Costa Rican has returned to the Emirates following yet another loan spell, but he could be leaving the Gunners again this summer.
According to O Jogo, Campbell has emerged as a top target for Sporting Lisbon and their soon-to-be new coach Jorge Jesus, who aims to lure several top players to Estadio Jose Alvalade.
The same source has suggested that the Costa Rican wouldn’t mind joining the Lions in the summer transfer window, although he would only agree to an outright transfer.
The highly rated footballer has largely struggled to prove his worth at Arsenal despite impressing on loan spells at Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiakos and Villarreal.
Campbell, 22, is clearly hoping that his disappointing spell with the Gunners will come to an end, and there are quite a few top European clubs that would love to secure his signature this summer.
