John Guidetti hints at City exit; Barrios agrees a switch to China

John Guidetti hints at City exit

Swedish striker John Guidetti has reiterated his desire to leave Manchester City in search of first team football.

The promising forward has largely impressed during his loan spell at Eredivisie side Feyenoord, but he doesn’t want to return to Manchester City only to make up the numbers.

The 19-year-old understands that he is unlikely to be given a proper chance at Etihad Stadium and he is, therefore, ready to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

“I don’t know what Man City are thinking but I want to play football,” Guidetti was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.

“If I can’t play at Manchester City – I’m a young boy – then I’ll have to play somewhere else.

“Maybe I’ll get a chance to go to a big team that will give me No 9 or No 10 and say, ‘okay, we’re ready to pay you this money’.

“I don’t care about the money but in football it shows where you are. It says, ‘This is how much we believe in giving you this chance’.

“And I want the chance. I don’t want to be a reserve at City, I can’t be. I have to be honest with people, I’m not going to lie. ”

Guidetti has been in brilliant form this season, having scored 18 goals in 19 Eredivisie game, while he was also handed a debut by national team boss Erik Hamren.

Barrios agrees a switch to China

Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios has agreed to sign a four-year deal with Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, according to Bild.

The Paraguayan striker, who played a crucial part in Borussia’s title winning season last term, has found himself on the fringes this season.

Unhappy with his status at the club, the 27-year-old recently revealed that he could quit Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

According to German newspaper Bild, Barrios has already agreed a four-year deal with Guangzhou Evergrande worth €6.7 million per season.

All that remains is for the two clubs to reach an agreement over the transfer fee and Bild believes an offer in the region of €12 million would suffice.

Barrios, who scored just one goal in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, has a contract until June 2015 worth €2.5 million per season with Borussia.

Napoli star set for new deal

Napoli keeper Morgan De Sanctis could extend his contract with the Azzurri at the end of the season, the player’s representative has revealed.

The veteran keeper has a contract until June 2013 at San Paolo, but it appears that he will be offered a new deal by the club chiefs.

The 34-year-old is still considered an important member of the starting line-up at San Paolo and his representative believes the club chiefs will try to tie the player down for another couple of years.

“His contract renewal will be something that we will look at before the summer,” Andrea Pastorello told Radio CRC.

“Napoli’s progression to the Italian Cup Final is a starting point for the club and I think that president Aurelio De Laurentiis will want to strengthen the squad and keep pillars like Morgan.”

The Italian international has been virtually ever present for Napoli this season, having featured in 27 Serie A games.
