The Independent is suggesting that John Terry’s Chelsea future could be in some doubt as the club may not offer him a contract extension when his current deal runs out in 18-months time.
Terry has been with the European Champions for his entire career and is regarded by many as Mr. Chelsea. However, the club have a policy on players over the age of 30 and he might not be offered a new deal.
It is of course a sensitive subject as he is loved by the fans and clearly adores the club, but Roman Abramovich is said to be weighing up his options.
With 18 months still to go, it is thought that this situation is not on top of the Chelsea owner’s to do list, although he might not want to leave speculation going for too long as fans could get agitated.
Much is sure to depend on how he plays from now until the end of the 2013/14 campaign in the English Premier League and whether he can stay fit.
For now though, Abramovich is pondering on what to do with Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard as both are out of contract with the club in the summer.
