The Mail Online understands that Glen Johnson’s Liverpool future remains in doubt, with the right-back no closer to signing a new contract with the club.
The 30 year old scored the only goal of the game at home to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon as Brendan Rodgers’ men secured their first win in six games.
However, he has started just half of the Reds’ games in all competitions so far this season and like club captain Steven Gerrard, can begin talks with overseas clubs on January 1st.
Clubs in the top flights of both Italy and Spain have already been linked with a move for the former Portsmouth and Chelsea man, whose next league game for Liverpool will be his one hundred and fiftieth for the club.
Internationally, he has been capped fifty-four times for England though he hasn’t featured since the 2-1 defeat to Uruguay in the group stages of this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
