Jojic signs for FC Köln; Santana fails medical

1. FC Köln have completed the signing of Serba international midfielder Milos Jojic from Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee.

1. FC Köln have completed the signing of Serba international midfielder Milos Jojic from Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee.

Jojic, who joined Dortmund from Serbian Superliga giants Partizan Belgrade for a fee of around €2.5 million in January 2014, has penned a four-year deal at the RheinEnergieStadion after failing to establish himself as a first-team regular at Signal Iduna Park.

“I am happy Milos Jojic has decided to join us,” 1. FC Köln manager Peter Stöger told the club’s official website.

“In our meeting he made it clear that he would do whatever it takes to fit into our team. Milos will no doubt become a vital part of our play and bring a new dimension to our offensive gameplan.”

The club’s general manager Jörg Schmadtke added: “Milos Jojic is a talented player, who has featured on the international from a young age. He can play a variety of positions on the field, and is good on dead-ball situations. He is also already familiar with the Bundesliga and has shown his quality here.”

Jojic, who represented Serbia at this summer’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic, did not score in 10 Bundesliga appearances for BVB last season.

Santana fails medical

In other news, 1. FC Köln’s move for Schalke 04 defender Felipe Santana has collapsed after the player failed a medical on Wednesday.

“We analyed the given circumstances and voted against the transfer of Felipe Santana,” added  Schmadtke. “At this moment we currently have only a single central defender active in training. Dominique Heintz will only join training in the middle of July, while Mergim Mavraj will remain sidelined for some while.

“This is why we believed a transfer for a player would only be sensible if the player was active and ready to train right away.

“Santana would miss at least the next three weeks and would then have to be brought back into training. We will continue to look at further options.”

Santana, formerly of Borussia Dortmund, spent the second half of the 2014/15 campaign on loan with Greek champions Olympiacos.

Poldi to Galatasaray

Galatasaray have completed the signing of forward Lukas Podolski from Arsenal on a four-year deal.

According to Sky Sports, Gala will pay Arsenal about £1.8 million up-front and then £2.1 million per season for an additional three years for the services of the Germany international.

Podolski scored four goals in 30 combined appearances in all competitions for Arsenal and FC Internazionale Milano last season.
